Welcome to the Reading branch of Epilepsy Action
Get Involved
Would you like to get involved in running the Reading Branch? No job is too small!
There are three committee roles that have to be filled in order for a Branch to function, these are Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. Michael Lister and Russell Eames currently hold post as Chairperson and Treasurer.
We are asking for volunteers to assist in other areas of running the branch and in particular a branch secretary. The running of a Branch is very rewarding work and the committee meetings are informal, friendly occasions happening once a month or every two months depending on how many activities are being organised.
The committee also has the full support of Epilepsy Action’s Regional Services Manager (who will train, guide and advise the committee on any matter). If you are interested or know of someone who would like to volunteer please email us at epilepsyreading@hotmail.co.uk or call Michael on 07983 506703.
Secretary - This role involves taking notes at committee meetings and distributing the minutes to the committee. Also dealing with correspondence on behalf of the Branch, including distributing the newsletters. If you would rather just deal with taking notes at the committee meetings, writing them up afterwards and mailing them to the committee before the next meeting, then the smaller role of Minute Secretary might be for you. The role of Minute Secretary is available now.
If you are unable take up the role as Secretary, maybe you would prefer a smaller role? Here are a few other roles that we could do with assistance. For these positions you do not have to be a member of Epilepsy Action – just someone who could give up a little time.
Social Secretary - With the committee's support you would be responsible for coordinating any social events that Branch members may want to do, e.g. meal out, summer picnic.
Events Organiser - With the committee's support you
would be responsible for organising events that the Branch arranges, e.g.
stand in a shopping centre to raise awareness.
